NORTH EAST INDIA BANGLADESH EXIM CONCLAVE, DHAKA

North East Foundation (NEF) organized the NE India Bangladesh Exim Conclave in February, 2017 in collaboration with Bangladesh Organic Product Manufactures Association, Dhaka, Allied Food Extractors, Sylhet, Ashan Associates, Dhaka, Sindhiya Enterprise.

The main objective of the conclave was International Market Linkage, particularly the Organic Produces of Assam. Since Bangladesh is having land boundary with many NE states and Bangladesh being the emerging trade partner with India and North East India, there is stringent need to promote potential sectors like Horticultural produces. The India High Commission, Dhaka supported the programme.

Upon approval of the Government of Assam, a team of officers headed by Sri P.K. Hazarika, Director of Horticulture & Food Processing, Assam participated in the conclave in Dhaka in Bangladesh. The other officers from Agriculture Department were Dr. Kailash Barman, SDAO, District Agricultural Officer, Kamrup, Guwahati, Sri Khagendra Sarmah, SDAO (Hort), Directorate of Horticulture & Food Processing, Assam & Sri Madam Mohan Deuri Bharali, Sr. ADO, Directorate of Horticulture & Food Processing, Assam.

Some of the Organic Produces of Assam namely Ginger, Turmeric, Joha Rice, Komal Rice, Red Rice and some other unique product of Assam were displayed in the exhibition held in Dhaka.

There was an interaction programme with the various stakeholders and an Action Plan was prepared. NEF, CEO Mr. Bhanu Singh later on visited the state in the month of July, 2017 and had a discussion with the officers of Directorate of Horticulture & Food Processing to promote the market linkage of organic produces.
