A Soil Health Card (SHC) is a document that provides information on the health of a farmer's soil and recommendations for improving it.
What it includes
The SHC provides information on the nutrient status of the soil, including macro-nutrients like N, P, K, and S, and micro-nutrients like Zn, Fe, Cu, Mn, and Bo. It also includes recommendations for fertilizers, bio-fertilizers, organic fertilizers, and soil amendments.
How it's generated
The SHC is generated through a soil sampling, testing, and generation process. The soil samples are collected by a Village Level Entrepreneur (VLSTL).
How to access
Farmers can access their SHC through the SHC portal or via an SMS link sent to their mobile phone.
Benefits
The SHC helps farmers promote soil test based nutrient management, and improves the functioning of soil testing laboratories.
Scheme
The SHC scheme was launched by the Government of India in 2015. It is implemented by the Department of Agriculture of all the State and Union Territory Governments.
